behind the posts

Pastor Helen Davis is the Founder and Executive Director of Divinely Beautiful. She has devoted over half of her adult life to the care of women, children, and families in need. Her 34 years of background in child welfare, early childhood education and community involvement within NYC serves as the inspiration for Divinely Beautiful. The adoption of a 5-month old family member transformed her life and she left the corporate sector to pursue a career as an early childhood education teacher. Her desire to see young children, especially those raised in challenging and impoverished environments, achieve their purpose and destiny, fueled her passion. She began to expand her vision past the classroom to take on the role of Education Co-ordination which led to a position as Program Director. Pastor Helen developed and directed the first center-based Early Head Start Program to serve pregnant families, infants and toddlers, in the South Bronx Community and ultimately became the Senior Director of one of the largest Early Childhood Programs in NYC . She holds an M.S Ed. in Special Literacy Studies degree from Lehman College CUNY, and a B.S. in Education., also from Lehman College CUNY. Pastor Helen has served as a Consultant with the NYC Department of Education providing training for Parents and staff development for Teachers. She has served as the Executive Director of the Maternity Home of Hudson Valley, a residential home  providing housing and support for pregnant women 18 yrs. and older with little to no resources.
